Thoughts

We share many memories of times with Gilly and Herbie, before and after having children. Gilly was kind, generous and very tolerant. Our ideas about teaching primary children were very similar and we enjoyed sharing experiences. Although we drifted apart in recent years, fond memories remain. Condolences to all the family.

I met Gilly when we were rehearsing for a play at Crewe College in 1969. ( Dark of the Moon") She was a drama student at the time and I got to know Gilly very well when we took another play called "the Visit" up to the Edinburgh Festival in 1970. My room mate at the time was Bob Herbert when we lived together in Broad Street, Crewe and I asked Herbie if he would help build the scenery for the play and he agreed to join us. It was at the YMCA in Edinburgh that Herbie and Gilly developed a close relationship. They were married in Torquay a few years later. Gilly was a very gentle , loving person who went on to be a successful school teacher. I kept in close contact with both Herbie and Gilly and we spent many holidays together on the canals. I am so sad to learn that Gilly has left us . I have such fond memories of her and she will always remain in my heart.
